Access
Valdez is the United States' farthest north ice free port with the best access to Alaska's interior as well as to the United States Pacific Northwest, Northern Canada, and Pacific Rim trade routes.

Valdez is the southern terminus of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline (TAPS). Supertankers navigate the deep, ice-free waters of Valdez Arm each day, handling more than 1.5 million barrels of crude oil. TAPS operations are managed by Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
