When the city first employed Kimley-Horn in the vision and branding effort, they expected them to complete certain tasks.
Since August, Kimley Horn and affiliate NorthStar have met with our citizens by having community workshops, business leader meetings, and engaged our youth, as well as our seniors.
They have also built and published a website, www.brandingvaldez.com, conducted surveys and immersed themselves in our community to get a feel for what it is to be a Valdezian.
They have met with various department heads, as well as attended commission meetings, to find out not only our assets, but also our challenges. At this point, Kimley-Horn has completed this task.
Kimley-Horn and NorthStar, will be in Valdez the week of December 5, 2017 to present a more in-depth report to City Council. On December 6, 2017, they will meet with the following commissions: Economic Diversification, Planning and Zoning and Ports and Harbor. In order to complete their next task of updating the Comprehensive Plan, which anticipates including several chapters, that are being defined through the ongoing Community Engagement process.
