    2016 Valdez Race Series
        Stay Tuned for the release of the 2016 Valdez Race Series!!
    We are happy to introduce the new Parks & Recreation Valdez RACE Series- with new runs, xc ski, snowshoe, and bike races included! And of course, we will still be sponsoring our annual fan favorites, like the Bite Back Runs, Uncle Salmon Fun Runs, and Labor Day Family Fun Runs.

    New in 2015, we will also be including a $5 registration fee for all Parks & Rec Races, which will go toward prizes, new racing equipment, more up-to-date racing technology, as well as funding for new races and runs!

    2016 H.A.W.K. (Hiking Alaska's Wild Kountry)
    HAWK - Hike Alaska’s Wild Kountry - 2016. For ages 5 and above. Pick up a HAWK program trail card at the P&R Office at the Civic Center. Hike, bike, or run on foot, 3 or more of the trails listed on the reverse side of this card. Valdez Trail information is available in the Parks and Recreation Summer Trail Map Guide or online at: Log the date you hiked each trail on the reverse side of this tracking card. Turn in your completed trail card at the Parks & Rec Office at the Civic Center or log on to to fill out and submit the online trail form on or before September 6, 2016. Each participant must turn in an individual trail card. Prize Drawings for hiking 3, 5, 7 or 9 trails. Participants will be entered in each Prize drawing for which they qualify (for example, a person who hikes 9 trails will be entered in each drawing), but may only win 1 prize. Those who hike all 10 Trails will be entered into a bonus prize drawing!

    #HAWKTrails Social Media Challenge
    We want HAWK to go viral! Every time your hike, bike, or run a HAWK trail, take a photo or video and tag it #HAWKTrail and post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Vine! If you post your photo to our Facebook page ( in public setting with the tag #HAWKTrail, you will be entered into a separate HAWK 2015 prize drawing and your photo may end up on the cover of our HAWK advertising in 2016! Winners will be announced on the Parks & Rec Facebook page and this website; and prizes will be awarded after September 8th.
