    If you have never been to the Rock Wall before, this hour is set aside just for you! Come learn the basics, attend our orientation, go thru the paperwork, rules, and learn how to clip in and climb on! All climbers must sign a waiver, climbers under 18yrs old must have a waiver signed by a legal parent or guardian.

  1. 2nd Annual Valdez Winter Games 10:00AM at Valdez Glacier

    March 28, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Glacier View Park

    Join us for the 2nd Annual Valdez Winter Games-- our own mini version of the Winter Olympics! Compete in one or all three events! Snowshoe races (kids and adult), XC Freestyle Ski races (kids and adult), and a Biathlon event (XC Ski & Archery combined.) Ages 4 & up are welcome! Donations are encouraged- with all proceeds benefitting Compassion International's "Water of Life", providing children in poverty with water filters. This special Winter Games competition is co-sponsored by Sheri Beck, with Compassion International, Steve Shiell, with the PWSCC Archery Club, and Valdez Parks & Rec. *This event is also a Healthier You Sponsored Activity- worth 4 Bonus points for all HY participants who attend. Points can be earned by selecting "HY Sponsored Activity" from the drop-down list on your Activity History tab at www.healthieryouvaldez.com. Most activities are appropriate for ages 5 and up; however, all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the HYS

    Fun for all ages! Both pools are open, diving board is open. Deep-end is roped-off from the shallow end, making "lap swimming" difficult. Must be 8 years old or accompanied by an adult.

    Get some exercise swimming laps! Lanes lines are used to separate swimmers and reduce their waves. If under 14 years old, must be accompanied by an adult and be proficient enough to swim laps.

    A time for parents and their young children to interact and play in the water! The small pool is open for parents and children age 6 or younger. We bring out some of our favorite water toys just for these tots! Parents must be in the water with their children.

Minnow class from 4:30-5:30 is a continued introduction to the water. Your minnow will continue to progress and get more comfortable in the water.

    Let our trained staff teach your child the important life skill of swimming! Beginning at age 5, Level 1 focuses on becoming comfortable in the water, water exploration and learning basic swim stroke skills. Level 2 continues with water exploration and basic swim stroke skills. Prerequisite for Level 2-must successfully have passed Level 1. Levels 3 and 4 are continued stroke development and safety in the water. Passing the previous class is required.

    Team Pictionary will be live in the game room side. Teams will have a limited amount of time to guess the drawing from their teammate. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in this round robin competition.
