The City of Valdez is building a new harbor to augment the existing harbor. A consultant has been hired to assist with the development of programmatic and conceptual designs for the upland improvements in coordination with the USCOE breakwater design. The concept has been developed to a schematic design that has been approved by the Port & Harbor Commission and the City Council. Construction is set to begin in early 2015.

The new harbor is proposed to be a 132 slip facility located south of “Hotel Hill”, and east of Alyeska’s Ship Escort / Response Vessel System (SERVS) facility. The new project is planned to include a 3 lane boat launch ramp, seventeen 36 foot slips, forty-eight 40 foot slips, fifty-two 50 foot slips, eleven 60 foot slips, and four 100 foot slips, with approximately 550 feet of transient moorage and a fuel dock. There will also be a new harbor office and maintenance shop, waste collection and recycling facilities, paved roads, and parking.

The City is seeking Project Management Services to represent the owner and oversee all aspects of project development, design, construction, and close out. Please refer to the full Request for Proposals for more specific information.
