HEALTHIER YOU HEALTH AND WELLNESS WORKSHOPS

Friday, April 5

The Health Coach is back! Leslie Kleinfeld, MPH, MEd will be back in Valdez April 5-7 with 5 brand new health and fitness workshops! Leslie is certified in personal health, fitness, lifestyle and yoga & postural alignment coaching and she wants to help you improve your wellness! All workshops and group sessions will take place in the Civic Center Conference Room. Please see the schedule for workshop descriptions and times. To sign up for a workshop or a small group follow up please visit the Parks and Recreation office located at the Civic Center.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS WORKSHOPS AND SMALL GROUP FOLLOW UP

Friday, April 5 6:30-8:45pm Small Group Follow  Up #1

This session will allow the participants who had previous personal coaching sessions with Leslie to debrief their challenges, share accomplishments, and design a plan for “where do I go from here.” Bring the original fitness plan that you wrote down during your first appointment, a pencil and dress to move.

Sat. April 6, 9:30am-Noon Life is Like a Wobble Board: How Do We Stay Balanced?

What does it mean to be “healthy and balanced” in our life? How do we make lifestyle changes that stick? When distress is looming, learn a useful life-saving trick.

Sat. April 6, 2-4:30pm Balancing Our Nutrition: What does “Eating Healthy” mean?

What does a colorful palate have to do with “brain food?” What are the keys to weight loss and diabetes management? Bring a favorite family recipe and let’s do a “makeover.”

Sat. April 6, 6:30-9:00pm Balancing Daily Ergonomics: Is my Work Giving Me a Pain in the…

back, neck, wrists, shoulders, thumbs, buttocks? Let’s change this! To combat this “workitis,” learn some ergonomic tricks easy to implement in your environment and body. Meet my iPLOD too! Bring a blanket, pillow and/or large bath towel.

Sun. April 7, 9:30-Noon Balancing Our Exercise: The Strengthening and Stretching Teeter-Totter

Me stretch? What for? Are we as flexible as we are strong and vice-versa? Does tight muscles mean strong? Learn how to balance your exercise program. Be prepared to move and “play.” Bring a mat if you have one, cotton or woolen blanket, and a pillow and 2 full rolls of toilet paper. We will be getting on the floor (Leslie, can show you how).

Sun. April 7, 2-4:30pm Clinic for Walkers, Hikers, Runners, Skiers

Learn how to improve your efficiency and move faster, without injury. All fitness levels will benefit. Be prepared to practice both inside and outside. If you have Nordic Trekking Poles or ski poles bring them, along with rubber feet for your poles. Bring clean inside shoes as well as outside shoes.

 Sun. April 7, 6:30-8:45pm Small Group Follow Up #2

This session will allow the participants who had previous personal coaching sessions with Leslie to debrief their challenges, share accomplishments, and design a plan for “where do I go from here.” Bring the original fitness plan that you wrote down during your first appointment, a pencil and dress to move.

Small Group Follow Up sessions are for those who had personal coaching sessions with Leslie during her first visit. These session are limited to 18 people each and participants will be required to fill out a second set of intake forms to update Leslie on your progress.

The Health Coach Workshops are open to all Healthier You participants and are limited to 25 people per session. Participants are encouraged to attend more than one session.  Please see the individual workshop descriptions session requirements and recommendations.

All who attend at least one workshop or small group follow up session will receive 4 bonus points, however these bonus points cannot be earned more than once and participants will not receive 4 bonus points for each additional session they attend.
